The Relationship Between Ric Flair and WWE Sours

The relationship between WWE and Ric Flair is on the rocks according to a number of sources, while not dire the cracks are starting to show and many know how stubborn Flair can be.

His Daughter Charlotte is reportedly not happy that he has taken legal action against WWE and Triple H and Seth Rollins have both unfollowed him on Twitter.

It all started when the two-time WWE Hall of Famer claimed WWE had lost respect for them after he issued a legal challenge for the term "The Man" which he believes he has a claim to financially.

Below is a transcript of what Flair told TMZ:

“I’m glad that I’m having this opportunity to clear the air. When I first saw this [‘The Man’ Becky Lynch] thing go down in August 2018, I thought, ‘Cool, ‘The Man’ – my gimmick – versus my daughter, Charlotte.’ Okay, that’s the day it started, right after SummerSlam. I thought, cool.

I said, ‘I’m going to make some money; it’s my trademark and they have it to use.’ I’ve been saying it’s [been mine] since 1981. So I got my worded statement, I sent [WWE’s lawyer] a text and the lawyer, who just has no respect for me whatsoever which is something I’m not going to deal with much longer, he said, ‘You’re wrong. It’s not even close.’

I said, ‘It’s not even close?’ So, boom, I sent him another text, he didn’t respond. So I had my lawyer call him and he blew off my lawyer. This is all in 2018 or in January of ’19.”

I told Hunter, ‘Hunter, I’m going to file.’ I mean, the reason they don’t have [the trademark for ‘The Man’], it’s my understanding that it’s because it’s too close to mine… I told Hunter, ‘Hey, if push comes to shove, I’m going to file for it.’

I mean, I get it, but here’s the deal: I love Becky Lynch, and no one has supported the women’s division more than me as an outsider. As a matter of fact, I told the guys that I would have texted Becky last night and Sasha, but I’m sure Becky – I don’t know what the WWE’s spin has been to her. They stole it last night.

It’s funny, my daughter [Charlotte Flair] is so mad at me because I filed, not even understanding that it’s not Becky. I have no beef with Becky.

But here’s the deal: when I almost died two years ago, one person stayed by me the whole time for 31 days in ICU, 12 days while I was dying on a respirator, and I’m going to take care of her and her family, and my family that has taken care of me, no matter what.

I don’t care what the WWE thinks of me personally; I know they love me, but obviously they have lost respect for me. If I don’t win, and even if I won, Becky can have [The Man] all day long. I’m glad! But I want the company to pay me for it because I’m going to take care of my family.

I am going to be ‘The Man’, and if I don’t get it, you know what my tombstone will say? ‘He died trying to be The Man’.”

Roman Reigns Wins First-Ever WWE Award At ESPN's ESPYS, Reigns Comments, Top WWE Stars In Attendance

Roman Reigns just won the first-ever Best WWE Moment award at the 2019 ESPN ESPYS from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Reigns won the award for his "triumphant return to Monday Night RAW" earlier this year following his second battle with leukemia.

The other nominees were Becky Lynch for winning the RAW Women's Title and SmackDown Women's Title at WrestleMania 35, Kofi Kingston for winning the WWE Title at WrestleMania 35, and Ronda Rousey for winning her first RAW Women's Title at SummerSlam 2018.

As we've noted, this was the first time that WWE had an award category at the ESPYS, under the Best Performance category.

"For to me just to be able to be healthy was the only award I needed. This is just so flattering for everyone to kind of lift me up and show me that support system and love from everybody," Reigns said in WWE's announcement on the award. "It was never about awards or anything like that. It was just about awareness, it was just about sharing my story and hopefully someone could use it for a little bit of hope."

WWE noted that Reigns was congratulated during during the red carpet special by Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, the RAW Women's Champion Lynch, and WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins.

Seth Rollins Continues To Defend WWE Against "Idiots With No Clue

WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins continues to defend the company on Twitter after Sunday's pre-Stomping Grounds tweet about WWE providing the best pro wrestling on the planet.

For those who missed it, Rollins wrote, "Best pro wrestling on the planet. Period."

He later doubled down after the Stomping Grounds Kickoff pre-show match that saw Drew Gulak capture the WWE Cruiserweight Title. Rollins wrote, "Doubling down. Best pro wrestling on the planet. See that Cruiserweight Triple Threat? And that's just one night, one match amongst the many. Find anyone else alive who does what I do as well as I do it as often as I do it. Ya can't. #WWEStompingGrounds #UniversalChampion @WWE"

Rollins later responded to a media tweet that said, "Remember when Seth Rollins said that WWE had the best pro wrestling in the world? #WWEStompingGrounds."

Rollins fired back, "Sure do dorks. And after that PPV I stand by it even more. The crew brought it tonight. From top to bottom all out effort from every person in the ring and out. And you're still talking/writing about it."

Molly Danger creator Jamal Yaseem Igle tweeted and said he loves Rollins, but The Architect should dial it down a notch. Rollins refused. He responded, "Nah dawg, let me dial it up. I've sat back and watched idiots with no clue talk poorly about the place I dedicate my life to EVERY HOUR OF EVERY DAY. The level I perform at on constant is untouchable. Time to let em know."

As we've noted, Rollins' tweets have received responses from The Usos and Roman Reigns, AEW star Chris Jericho, and top NJPW stars Tama Tonga and Will Ospreay. Ospreay responded to Rollins' "double down" tweet and said he's alive. Rollins fired back and said WWE already has a better version of Ospreay - new WWE United States Champion Ricochet. Rollins wrote, "Ahhhh I'm sorry little guy. We already have a better version of you here and he just won his first US Title tonight (Congrats @KingRicochet). Keep working hard though buddy!"

Bret Hart Apologizes to Michael Hayes for Comments He Made About The Fabulous Freebirds, Also Apologizes to Triple H and Seth Rollins

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart had some harsh words for The Fabulous Freebirds in a recent Forbes interview, and below is an excerpt of what Hart had to say:

“Why have they been overlooked when you can induct the Freebirds, who never did squat in WWE? Ever. Never drew any money, never did anything. When I remember the Freebirds, they were all drunk and passed out at the gate at one of the airports in my first day in WWF. None of them even made the show that day, they were too drunk to make their plane.”

Hart has since apologized to Michael “PS” Hayes, as he posted the following on Facebook:

I’d like to take this opportunity to formally apologize to Michael Hayes. A while back I made comments about the Freebirds not being as worthy of being in the WWE Hall of Fame as others. It was unfair for me to dismiss their contributions to the industry and they certainly did great things in Texas with the Von Erich Family. Michael Hayes always treated me with great respect, as did Terry Gordy, Ronnie Garvin and Buddy Roberts and I’m sorry if I disrespected any of them with my comments. Furthermore I apologize to both Triple H and Seth Rollins for any hurtful comments I made on my podcast. The reality of all this is the reason I quit doing podcasts in general, because they’re for the most part an outlet for negativity, and have left me with a reputation as being angry and bitter. I’m not, I’d spoke candidly and openly but it’s no excuse for minimizing other wrestlers or their contributions. In saying all that, I still believe Jim the Anvil Neidhart of the Hart Foundation, including Owen, Brian Pillman, Davey Boy Smith, The Dynamite Kid, Jimmy Hart, The Rougeau Brothers, The Killer Bees, The Demolition, Rick Rude, King Kong Bundy, and One Man Gang all deserve their place in the WWE Hall of Fame. My apologies to all. Bret Hart x

Bill DeMott On If Seth Rollins Is Dangerous In The Ring, WWE Return

Planeta Wrestling has a great interview with former WCW and WWE star Bill DeMott. You can check out some highlights here below:

We have a Hall of Famer like Bret Hart taking on Seth Rollins and saying that he is a dangerous performer regarding his matches with John Cena, Sting or Finn Balor. What do you think about these accusations?

"I would not even try to compare my knowledge to Bret Hart nor would I question his thinking, that being said I do not think it is anything more than coincidence that all this happened around Seth. Rollins is one of the best there is and I would put my career in his hands any day. Things happen people get hurt and someone has to get "blamed" unfortunately it doesn't always end in favor of both participants but I would bet anything ALL of this men would get back in the ring with Seth and he is a professional as they get. He is the future of the business."

Would you return to WWE?

"I would without a doubt go back to WWE, I'm not one to pull punches and talk crap about it. I would love to be part of the WWE in some way shape or form. I still have a lot to give and I'm loyal to who is loyal to me."

Rumor Mill - Details On Bo Dallas Being Kicked Off Plane, Seth Rollins Heat With Airport Gate Agents

There was an incident with Bo Dallas at the Dallas Fort Worth airport this past Friday. The details were first posted on Twitter by Steven Bell, who hosts The Late Shift podcast.

Bell told wrestlinginc.com that his wife called him from the airport to tell him that there were a bunch of wrestlers at the airport, like Roman Reigns, Bayley and Rusev. While he was talking to her, she told him that Charlotte, Bo Dallas and one of the Usos were hanging out at an airport restaurant. She said that their flight was delayed, so they were there for a few hours. In the background while talking to his wife, he could hear Bo Dallas singing a song from The Lion King as the wrestlers were leaving the restaurant to go board.

Bell said that his wife was not on the same plane as the wrestlers, but she saw Bo Dallas being escorted off the plane by the pilot. A flight attendant told Dallas that he couldn't board because of his condition. Bo was trying to get back on and was denied, and he told the pilot to "f--k themselves." He also told gate agents to "f--k themselves" before walking off.

When asked about his tweet about Seth Rollins being "a d-ck." He said that his wife overheard gate agents saying that Rollins was a d-ck.

Police arrived at the scene, but it is not known if Bo actually got arrested. Bo was arrested for drunk driving in 2013, however there are no arrest records for him from over the weekend.

Bo was scheduled to compete at last night's WWE live event in Puebla, where he was slated to team with Curtis Axel to face The Usos. Bo was not at the event, and Jey Uso faced Axel in a singles match instead, with Jimmy Uso in Jey's corner.

Mick Foley laces WWE fans for their reaction at SummerSlam

RAW General Manager Mick Foley is taking his role seriously.

The WWE legend took to Facebook on Monday to criticize those fans in attendance at SummerSlam at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, who mocked the debut of the Universal title.

The impetus for Foley's lecture was a tweet from Seth Rollins, who lost to Finn Balor in the first Universal title bout.

Per Foley on Facebook:

WHEN SMART FANS TURN DUMB

I have long felt, and often spoken about the element of magic needed to make a good match great and a great match classic.

Finn Balor and Seth Rollins had a GREAT match last night - a match that I was HONORED to watch from ringside. But instead of that element of magic necessary to turn that great match into a classic, what Finn and Seth got instead was the stench of self-congratulatory snarkiness from a a very vocal minority of the sold-out Barklay's Center. But a couple thousand self-important chanters, mixed in with 14,000 other people who genuinely WANT TO WATCH THE FREAKING MATCH is an awful distraction.

Yes, the chants were clever. Maybe the look of the Universal Championship isn't the one that I personally wouldn't have wanted. But remember the Hardcore Title? It was supposed to be a joke when it was presented to me – broken pieces of metal held together by duct tape. But we made that title mean something by busting our asses to show it's worth. As Seth Rollins writes in his tweet, a title is about more than appearance; it's about what it represents for the men fighting for it. Remember the WWE title I won from The Rock – that moment that has gone down as among the greatest in Monday Night Raw history? Did you know that title belt reeked of beer and mildew, and stunk up my bag every day for the 37 days (or whatever the exact number was) that I held it? Did you know that I didn't give an F about the beer and mildew... or what it looked like, what color it was, if it spun or had my name on it? I only cared about the hard work that had gone into winning it, and that those responsible for running the company felt that I was worthy of holding it.

There are so many times when WWE fans act in a way that makes me proud. Last night was not one of them. Last night, that vocal minority in attendance - who thought their clever chants about their displeasure toward the aesthetic design of a FREAKING belt were more important than the two guys busting their asses to have the best match possible, made me feel ashamed.

I hope some of those people who were chanting about the Universal Championship - many of whom are Finn Balor fans - will read this article, and realize that Finn flew his family in from Ireland to be part of the event last night. I hope they will take a good look at themselves in the mirror, and realize they made the evening a little less special for him by trying to make the evening about themselves.

There is a reason why Seth Rollins simple, yet eloquent statement received 10,000 RT's from around the world. People agreed with him! Most of them would have loved to be sitting in the seats of those self-important fans - with that element of magic in the air that would have turned their great match into a classic.

RAW GM's Announce Plans To Crown New WWE Universal Champion

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Demon King has abdicated the throne.

Less than 24 hours after defeating Seth Rollins to become the first-ever WWE Universal Champion, Finn Bálor was forced to relinquish the title to Raw GM Mick Foley and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, having suffered a right shoulder injury at The Architect’s hands during their historic clash. Unforuntately, Bálor’s hope for a clean exit was cut short by Seth Rollins, who wasted no time in attempting to cobble together a case for himself to inherit the now-vacant championship.

The Architect certainly had company in that regard. Sami Zayn, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens were quick to name themselves as worthy of a title opportunity, as did Roman Reigns and, surprisingly, Enzo Amore & Big Cass. Foley provided the solution, sanctioning four qualifying bouts for a Fatal 4-Way next week to determine a new Universal Championship.

Recap of Triple H's Facebook Q & A

The following are the highlights of Triple H’s appearance on Facebook Live following the NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II event.

-Cathy Kelley interviewed Triple H backstage at Barclays Center. They both raved about the live special. He said that changing the entire industry last year and to come back and do this tonight shows that NXT is on fire and is getting bigger and bigger. Kelley raved about how NXT sold out Barclays two years in a row.

-Hunter also spoke with pride about taking NXT to Australia and New Zealand. He said WWE Network is everywhere so they can go anywhere. He said they are at a point where they have to pick and choose.

-Kelley asked what Asuka defeating Bayley means for Bayley. “I guess we will see,” Hunter said with a smile. He said Brooklyn is Bayley’s city and she could be the honorary mayor. He said whether she wins or loses, she lights the place on fire. He said the crowd gave her a standing ovation and the people went crazy for her. Hunter said Asuka is on a different level right now and he doesn’t seen anyone touching her in the NXT women’s division anytime soon.

-Kelley mentioned Shinsuke Nakamura becoming the new NXT Champion and how he and Asuka are international talents who hold titles. Hunter said it speaks to the brand. He said everyone wants to be in NXT. “In my opinion, it’s the hottest brand going right now,” he said.

-Kelley asked about the various wrestlers who have been called up to Raw and Smackdown and how it affects NXT. Hunter said that if you look at last year’s show in Brooklyn, the wrestlers who were on it are the main roster of WWE today. He said you’ll see the first NXT Champion Seth Rollins face the longest reigning NXT Champion Finn Balor at SummerSlam. He also mentioned Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte. He said he watched those wrestlers come through NXT and put it on the map. He said he couldn’t be more proud of all of them. He said that when you look at what NXT did this year, it was a completely different group of people. “The talent pool here is as deep as it’s ever been and will continue to be that because we’re going to continue to create the future and the future always evolves,” he said. Hunter said the secret of NXT is that they will always deliver something “new, fresh, and exciting.”

-Hunter went out of his way to mention the Nakamura entrance. “Who would have predicted a violin player, at a WWE event, just lighting the place up?” he asked. Hunter said it was amazing and Nakamura is “just one of those once in a lifetime athletes who can come in and captivate the world.”

Seth Rollins Discusses Roman Reigns Addressing the WWE Locker Room Following Suspension, Shoots Down “Wrestler’s Court” Rumors

Prior to his 30 day suspension for violating the WWE Wellness Policy, Roman Reigns reportedly addressed the WWE locker room before leaving to serve his month long suspension.

Apparently rumors were floating around that Reigns appeared in “Wrestler’s Court”, an old, light-hearted form of “discipline” in which a wrestler accused of doing something wrong stood “trial” in front of the locker room and was then issued some type of punishment.

WWE star Seth Rollins recently appeared on “Bailey and Southside”. During the interview, Rollins discussed what really happened when Reigns addressed the locker room, and Rollins said it was not a “wrestler’s court” situation. Rollins said the wrestler’s court system is something of the past, and doesn’t exist anymore. He added the cases were typically over minor things like one wrestler taking another wrestler’s seat at catering. Rollins said the punishments were usually a little harsh, but this was all before the days of social media and WWE going public. When asked if Roman Reigns was brought before Wrestler’s Court when he violated the WWE Wellness Policy, Rollins said “no, that’s misunderstood.”

Rollins clarified the situation and said Reigns addressing the locker room was done because Reigns is a locker room leader, and he wanted to do the professional thing and address the situation in front of the company and the talents. Rollins added Wrestler’s Court was something typically done more out of jest, and what Reigns did was much more professional.
